A $40 million longevity fund just bankrolled a gene therapy with three months of safety data and zero regulatory approval. It is already for sale.

"I'm just upgrading my system for a little while to reduce my age and reduce my vascular risk," Asprey said. The video features Eterna's CEO describing the therapy as helping "with vascular health systemically."

This trial combines two gene therapies: AAV9-delivered follistatin and a VEGF plasmid. The VEGF component is the sharper edge. VEGF promotes blood vessel growth, which carries a known risk of vascular leakage, off-target angiogenesis, and inflammatory responses. Combining it with a therapy that already shows an LDL spike is not conservative medicine. It is a bet that the mechanisms are independent and the risks additive rather than synergistic.
